Earlier this month, we were delighted to welcome Councillor Paul Wharton-Hardman, the Mayor of South Ribble, to our Regenerage Activity Centres. Following the visit, we received an incredibly heartwarming letter which we would love to share with you.
A visit from the Mayor of South Ribble
Paul Wharton-Hardman visited our Lostock Hall Activity Centre to witness the incredible impact that we have on the wider community and joined us for the launch of our very first Dementia-Friendly Well-being Club, which was delivered in partnership with First Kick Foundation.
During his visit, Paul thanked our wonderful volunteers and staff for their ongoing support of older people in the local community. Without their dedication and hard work, none of the amazing work we do would be possible.
A heartfelt letter from the Mayor of South Ribble
I am writing to personally thank you and the team at Regenerage for the truly inspiring work that you are doing to build a more caring, connected community across South Ribble.
It was a real privilege to attend the launch of the very first Dementia Friendly Well-Being Club at Lostock Hall Activity Centre, an uplifting and thoughtful initiative in partnership with First Kick Foundation. Returning to the centre brought back fond memories of my first visit as Deputy Mayor to the first Talkin’ Tables session. To see how you continue to flourish is genuinely heartening.
Your commitment to creating safe, welcoming spaces for our older residents is both vital and deeply appreciated. The Well-Being Club is a shining example of what compassionate, community-centred care should look like, free to attend, practical in its support, and rich in warmth and connection.
Please pass on my sincere thanks to everyone involved – the Regenerage team, First Kick Foundation, the volunteers and carers who make this work possible.
South Ribble is a truly better, more compassionate place because of all you do.
With warmest regards and continued support,
Councillor Paul Wharton-Hardman BEM
The Worshipful the Mayor of South Ribble
We are really grateful to the Mayor of South Ribble for visiting two of our activity centres and for sending this heartfelt letter.
Here’s what Ann Beetham, our Director of Fundraising & Corporate Sponsorship, had to say about the visit and receiving the letter.
“Paul’s kind words are a huge reminder of the impact that Regenerage makes when we come together to create safe, welcoming and meaningful spaces for our older residents.”
What is the Dementia-Friendly Well-being Club?
We hosted our first Dementia-Friendly Well-being Club on Tuesday, the 8th of July, and these sessions will continue every Tuesday from 12:30 to 2:30 pm. You can view our timetable of these events below.
The Well-being Club is a welcoming space where individuals living with dementia can enjoy a variety of activities designed to boost their well-being. The activities are a combination of low-level sporting physical activity and cognitive stimulation, specifically designed for the elderly of all abilities. The club is free to attend, making it accessible to more individuals.
The space is designed to be relaxed, inclusive and bring joy to service users. Carers are also welcome to join service users, and refreshments are available during the sessions.
During the sessions, we provide the following support.
- Specialist health and wellbeing advice
