Charity shops can be full of amazing items that have plenty of life left in them. Our Regenerage stores have a wide range of items suitable for all ages and occasions. In this blog, we’re letting you know 10 things you didn’t know charity shops accept as donations.

What weird and wonderful things can I donate to local charity shops?

Broken jewellery

You might be thinking, why would I take broken jewellery to a charity shop? But the answer is that someone might want it. There are so many ways that jewellery can be fixed, and it can even look as good as new!

If you’ve got broken jewellery lying around your house that you know you’re never going to wear again, why not bring it along to one of our stores?

While you’re in the shop, you can take a look at our other jewellery. We quite often have designer brands in store.

Unopened/unwanted gifts

Every so often, you might come across a gift that someone bought you a few months ago that you still haven’t found a use for. That’s not a problem when you can donate these unused and unwanted gifts to a Regenerage charity shop.

Whether it’s a bath set, stationery kit or something else, we’ll be glad to help give it a second chance with a new owner. Read our blog on how to find hidden gems in charity shops.

Old mobile phones

Old mobile phones are easily forgotten about. It’s common to get a new one and end up leaving your old one lying around collecting dust. We accept old mobile phones at our charity shops.

We can accept phones in good condition that we can easily check for power. It’s even better when the phones come with chargers, if you’re not going to be using them either.

What can you donate charity stores

Old game consoles

Old games consoles are a great collectable item, but if you’re not interested in collecting them, they can often end up lying around. Instead, why not bring your old games console to a Regenerage store?

We can help give it a new life with someone who might be extremely passionate about gaming and old consoles.

Old retro games

Old retro games bring a great sense of nostalgia, but they can also end up taking up valuable space in the home. Plus, if you’re not getting the most out of them anymore, someone else might be able to.

Retro games often sell very well in charity shops, as they are quite hard to find. You never know, when you make your donation, you might find another hobby or something else that sparks the warm, fuzzy feeling that nostalgia brings.

Electrical items

Have you upgraded an electrical item in your home? Perhaps you’d like to give your old item a new lease of life, rather than throw it in the skip! At Regenerage, we accept small electrical items that are in working condition.

We can accept TVs, DVD players and much more. All of our items are reasonably priced, and by donating one of these items to us, you could be really helping someone to get set up in their home. Read our blog on how to prepare your items for a charity shop.

Antiques and collectables

Antiques and collectables can often end up in boxes in the loft, so if you feel like your home lacks space, you might decide to donate these items to charity shops. At Regenerage, we accept all antiques and collectables in our stores.

These items often get people talking as they remember them from their own childhoods, which is lovely to see in our stores.

Things you didn't know you could donate to charity shops

Laptops

Similar to old phones, old laptops can also end up lying around, gathering dust. If you’ve finished with your old laptop, why not donate it so that someone else can enjoy it? We accept laptops in good working condition.

Cameras

Cameras are great ways to reminisce over special memories, but they do need upgrading over time, especially if you are a bit of a camera enthusiast. If you’re planning to upgrade your camera, then it’s a great idea to donate your old one to one of our stores.

Musical instruments

Whether you’re a seasoned musician or you tried to take on a new hobby, musical instruments are a great example of something you didn’t know charity shops accepted. We accept all musical instruments, and we love the excitement it brings when someone decides to buy a pre-loved instrument.

We can accept musical instruments at our Regenerage stores, so feel free to bring them down. When you donate items, you know they’re going to someone who truly appreciates them and will make the most out of them.

What else can I donate?

We also accept clothes, bags, accessories, furniture, shoes, Christmas items, toys and much more! For large items of furniture, we have a free furniture collection service. Additionally, we have our excellent volunteers to get items ready in our shops. Find out more about becoming a volunteer for us. Most charity shops only have in-store positions, but we also have our activity centres.
